Take That batem recorde de Michael Jackson

Take That batem recorde de Michael Jackson

25 dates are now sold out

TAKE THAT broke tour sales records yesterday - sparking fears of a biggest ever tickets scam.

Analysts estimated fraudsters could rake in a record £15million by luring buyers to bogus websites.

The warning came as the band smashed their own UK one-day sales record yesterday - and added TEN more dates to the tour.

Fans have snapped up the 1.35million official tickets, meaning all 25 dates are now sold out. Firms estimated that 50 tickets were being sold every second. But internet experts revealed at least one new fake ticket website was appearing every hour yesterday.

Tricksters were preying on unprecedented demand to see the band's first outing with former member ROBBIE WILLIAMS for 16 years.

Bogus sites - some based as far away as India - either take cash for non-existent tickets then close down, or use the buyer's personal details for identity fraud.

With touts selling tickets too, scams could rake in £23million.

Edward Parkinson, of ticket exchange Viagogo UK, said: "Fans need to be extra vigilant when they see a site offering Take That tickets and should not judge a site by its appearance; they must do their homework before they buy."

Official sites and phone lines went into meltdown as fans scrapped for precious £55 tickets for the Progress Live 2011 stadium tour.

Demand was a staggering 30 TIMES higher than for the ill-fated 2009 MICHAEL JACKSON This Is It tour.

Some fans queued for 72 hours before box office doors opened. Others purchasing online were unable to log on for up to four hours as ticket sites handled their highest-ever day of traffic. Ticketmaster, Gigs and Tours, Ticketline and The Ticket Factory all struggled to cope.

Ticketmaster's site went down as early as 9am. A spokeswoman said it had a knock-on effect for telephone hotlines, causing them to jam.

She said: "Call volume is at least twice that of when Michael Jackson went on sale last year."

Within minutes of the official tickets becoming available some were being offered at massively inflated prices on auction site eBay. One opportunist tout was flogging a pair of tickets for the July 7 gig at London's Wembley Stadium for a whopping £2,703.

Last night bandmates GARY BARLOW, 39, MARK OWEN, 38, JASON ORANGE, 40, HOWARD DONALD, 42, and ROBBIE WILLIAMS, 36, added three more dates at both Wembley and Manchester and one each at Sunderland, Glasgow, Birmingham and Cardiff.

The lads will now be playing seven dates at Wembley - which will equal Michael Jackson's record-breaking stint there on his 1988 Bad tour.

Last night Take That said in a statement: "We are speechless, truly and utterly shocked. This is the most amazing news for all of us.To sell one million tickets in a day is mind blowing and we think we'll be in shock for a few days!"

Earlier the boys posted an apology on Twitter for the sales fiasco - saying "the technology available has not been able to keep up with demand".

The band's promoter SIMON MORAN added: "The demand for tickets was at another level to The Circus tour."

Last night Business Secretary VINCE CABLE told The Sun: "No one should get ripped off by scam websites. Take That fans who think they may have been scammed should contact Consumer Direct for advice."

UK's best in a day

TAKE That's incredible 1,100,000 ticket sales yesterday set a new all-time one-day high.

It beat even their OWN previous record of 1,080,000 for the Circus Tour 2009.

Other top UK sales were Michael Jackson 1988 Tour (780,000), Michael Jackson 2009 (750,000), Oasis 2009 (700,000), Rolling Stones Bigger Bang (600,000) and U2 Vertigo (350,000).

Take That Sell Over 1M Tickets

As the lads say they are 'speechless'...

Take That broke UK records when they sold 1.1m tickets in less than 24 hours, after their Progress Live tour went on sale at 9am on Friday 29 October.
But their tour promoter has apologised to fans who struggled to get tickets after servers crashed and phone lines became jammed. “We coped with it in the best way possible," an SJM Concerts spokesman said. “It’s due to the absolutely unprecedented and never-before-seen demand for these tickets to watch Take That.”
Ticketmaster said it had received over 20m page views on Friday, "far in excess" of the number seen when Michael Jackson’s O2 Arena dates went on sale. BT was also affected – it said the phone network was three or four times busier than normal on Friday morning. At its peak, it’s thought 50 tickets were being sold every second.
Robbie, Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason released a joint statement thanking fans for their patience and expressing their surprise at the massive demand for tickets. “We are speechless, truly and utterly shocked. This is the most amazing news for all of us. To sell one million tickets in a day is mind blowing and we think we’ll be in shock for a few days!
“We want to thank everyone who has bought tickets today and look forward to seeing them next year.”
The Progress Live tour, Take That’s first gigs featuring Robbie Williams in over 16 years, now encompasses 25 UK dates, including seven nights apiece at Wembley Stadium and the City of Manchester Stadium.
Progress Live 2011 Tour Dates:

Sunderland Stadium Of Light – May 30/31
Manchester City Of Manchester Stadium – June 3/4/5/7/8/10/11
Cardiff Millennium Stadium – 14/15
Dublin Croke Park – 18/19
Glasgow Hampden Park – 22/23/24
Birmingham Villa Park – 27/28
London Wembley Stadium – July 1/2/3/5/6/8/9

TAKE THAT TICKET MELTDOWN

THOUSANDS of Take That fans were left in tears yesterday as websites selling the band’s tour tickets crashed after just two minutes.

Dozens of sites collapsed under the strain as the famous five’s followers bombarded the internet for seats at their long-awaited reunion gigs.

Some fans even lost thousands of pounds on bogus sites which took their money and then shut down.

But touts had no problem getting hold of the prized tickets, and almost immediately were offering them on eBay for five times their face value.

Fans had been desperate for the chance to snap up tickets ever since Take That announced in July that former member Robbie Williams would rejoin the band and tour with them for the first time in 16 years.

But the demand for next May’s concerts was so huge that even Robbie was forced to go online yesterday to warn fans against being conned by scammers.

Just a few hours after the tickets went on sale at 9am, the 36-year-old Tweeted: “Please DO NOT purchase tickets from unofficial agents or eBay. We cannot vouch for their authenticity and you could end up out of pocket!

“We’re aware ticket sites are still down but please DO keep trying, agents are working hard to cope with the the demand and keep sites up.

“Many ticket sites have crashed due to high demand – keep trying and refreshing your browser, you will be able to get through eventually!”

Telephone demand for tickets for the gigs in London, Manchester, Cardiff, Birmingham and Sunderland was so high that in some parts of the country it even knocked out the phone network.

Last night tour organisers confirmed the band had sold a record-breaking one million tickets in just nine hours.

Promoter Simon Moran said: “There literally has never been anything like it in the history of live music in the UK. Selling a million tickets in one day in an absolutely amazing achievement."

But despite the incredible demand, some tickets were still available at 6pm last night.

Take That fever swept the nation today when tickets for the bands Progress Live 2011 UK Summer Stadium tour went on sale at 9am. A record breaking one million tickets were snapped, meaning the band have smashed their own previous box office record set in 2008 with The Circus Live Tour.

Massive demand for the tickets this morning caused phone lines and websites across the country to jam as ticket agents struggled to cope with the unprecedented number of people trying to buy tickets. Thousands of fans also camped out overnight outside the stadium box offices to ensure they were amongst the first to secure tickets for the band's highly anticipated tour next year.

The band commented "We are speechless, truly and utterly shocked. This is the most amazing news for all of us. To sell one million tickets in a day is mind blowing and we think we'll be in shock for a few days! We want to thank everyone who has bought tickets today and look forward to seeing them next year."

Progress Live 2011 will be the first time that Gary, Howard, Jason, Mark and Robbie have toured together in over 16 years.

Take That: Look Back, Don't Stare.

Take That: Look Back, Don't Stare.

As filmagens de Take That: Look Back, Don't Stare foram capturadas pela Pulse.

Gary Barlow: I don't feel like dancing

ONE key TAKE THAT component will be missing from the manband's tour next summer.

Fear not, returning singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS hasn't thrown in the towel again.

Instead, singer and chief songwriter GARY BARLOW has warned his slick-hoofed colleagues that he won't be taking part in the onstage dance routines.

That's despite new album Progress being their "most uptempo ever".

Talking to SCOTT MILLS on Radio 1 this morning, Gary — often mocked for his awkward approach to choreography — stated: "I've hung up my boots."

MARK OWEN chipped in: "Even before we started making the record Gary sat us all down and said: 'I'm just saying one thing: I'm not dancing.' I'm not convinced."

Still, Gary's age-influenced decision to stand still is nothing compared to Mark's senior moment.

The singer confessed he spent 24 hours convinced he'd had his car stolen — only to realise he'd simply forgotten where he'd parked it.

He said: "I'd just left it at some friend's house. We were speaking to the friend and said we lost it — and they never said 'it's on our drive!'."

Meanwhile, Robbie revealed he's hoping to bag a singing role on some of the songs Take That released after he departed in 1995.

Still, the singer admits he's just buzzing at the prospect of taking part in a live TT extravaganza.

He said: "The lads had a meeting last week while I was away in LA and came up with a load of ace ideas for the show. We know how it's going to work. I'm just thrilled to be part of it. I do want to do some of the tunes from the last few years please. I need to discuss that with the lads."

Well, Mark's the best man to organise a band meeting.

He revealed: "We try to get together at least once a month for dinner. We call them ban-them-birds evenings."

Tickets for the lads' 2011 UK shows go on sale this Friday.

Gary said: "There will probably be more. There should be"

ROBBIE WILLIAMS has always been obsessed with UFOs - and his sci-fi influence is rubbing off on TAKE THAT.

His old mucker MARK OWEN compared his man-bandmates to characters from Star Trek during their press conference yesterday to announce their first tour as a five-piece since 1995.

It was an impressive spectacle at London's uber-posh Savoy hotel - with cameras flashing and hordes of women getting over-excited.

Robbie took centre stage, sitting in the middle of GARY BARLOW, MARK OWEN, HOWARD DONALD and JASON ORANGE - and he immediately resumed his role as the "cheeky one" in the band.

He identified Gary as "skipper", Mark the "cute one", Howard "the body" and Jason "the dancer".

But Mark had a more fitting analogy, which played up to Robbie's fascination with aliens.

He said: "Gary is definitely Captain Kirk. I've always fancied myself as Scotty. Howard is Bones, Jason is Mr Spock. That makes Robbie a Klingon - but a nice one."

Captain Gary said the lads have yet to decide on an angle for the tour. But when I grabbed him afterwards he said the show would be out of this world.

He said: "Put it this way, if we pull off what we are trying to pull off, we will change stadium shows for ever. We brought theatre to stadiums last time but this is going to be on a different scale."

The band's The Circus tour cost £100million when it went on the road last year and there are plans to dig deep this time round, too.

Gary added: "We always spend a lot. It's the one area we shouldn't be sensible about.

"We've got to give the crowd what they want. We haven't decided on a support act yet. I tell you who I like - TINIE TEMPAH.

"He is f****** brilliant that kid. I tell you what - look out the world."

The 14 UK dates on the Progress Live 2011 tour will be amazing if they match The Circus show.

The boys kick off at Sunderland's Stadium Of Light on May 30 and will do an epic four dates at Wembley Stadium.

They will also play six separate shows across Europe. But more dates are a certainty once these shows sell out.

Gary said: "There will probably be more. There should be.

"Luckily it's not a massive touring year next year. The last time round I think there were quite a few out - I think U2, COLDPLAY, OASIS. I'm looking forward to it. There will be something for everyone in the show."

The band's website takethat.com crashed yesterday due to sheer weight of traffic while Ustream, who streamed the press conference, notched record figures.

Major ticket retailers are preparing for a surge of Take That fans on Friday when tickets go on sale at 9am. They are bolstering their bandwidth and servers.

It's exciting stuff as the boys are really looking forward to touring with each other again. Gary said: "It is actually weird how much of a role we have all slipped back into. It is almost identical to what it was.

High spirits ... our man Gordon with upbeat band
High spirits ... our man Gordon with upbeat band

"Robbie's cheek is still there - he just doesn't change. Foolishly I wrote a song once called Everything Changes, but I must have been wrong. There have been no arguments. Not one cross word, nothing.

"We've learned to accept each other as a four and I think Rob has been part of a few band meetings now and I think he was quite taken aback by how truthful we were with each other. He is loving the security of being in a band and that's what he would always love." The boys will continue to share a dressing room and will get their families involved as much as possible, providing they can get kids out of school.

It will be a real celebration of all their work - even Robbie's solo material, which he will be performing.

Robbie said: "I'll be doing a bit, the lads will be doing a bit and then we'll be doing a bit. I heard a whisper yesterday he'd be getting at least 40 minutes of the show, a massive slice.

Take That anunciam digressão

"Rob and I wrote Shame on the 25th August 2009 at a house i'd rentend for the summer in Los Angeles. It was one of those spare of the moment chances, he was at my house, I had a song on the go and he wanted do write!! Amazing!
We put vocals on in a few days later. John Shank helped me knock a demo together for us to sing on. When I went home in Sept I wondered if anything would ever happen to that song, little did i know it would be lauching Robbie's Greatest Hits this year!
When they decided to use the song, Trevor Horn was chosen to produce it. Rob an I went along one evening and cut the vocals standing opposite each other. It was great fun and really worked for the record. Trevor was a joy to work with, he'd produced 2 songs for me in the 90's but I was looking forward to be working with ihm again.
2 days after we wrote Shame, Rob and I were back at it. This time we wrote the up tempo Heart and I.
This was an instrumental piece of music I had, but when I played it to Rob he sang this scaring melody over it.Within an hour he had written the most beautiful lyric. I got Rob to sing a guide on the track with a crappy mic into my laptop. When i got home a week later I worked it up and send it back to Rob. He loved it and decided to use Shame and Heart and I on his greatest Hits.
The track was then produced by legendary producer Trevor Horn"

News Q Magazine Q293: Take That - Back For Good

Just announced! Q Magazine has a world exclusive for it's December issue, which will feature the first print interview with Take That including Robbie Williams for more than 15 years.

PRE-ORDER Q MAGAZINE, Q293: TAKE THAT - BACK FOR GOOD?

The interview was conducted by Q's Editor-in-chief Paul Rees, who amongst other things covered the topics of how the once unlikely reunion with Williams came about and the recording of their new album Progress, the band's first with Robbie since he quit 15 years ago.

Talking about the issue, which is out on Tuesday, October 26 Paul said "The Take That reunion has unquestionably been the biggest story in music this year and Q is delighted to be the first to tell it in depth. Personally I think everyone is at least curious about Take That right now. Over the course of the last couple of records they've successfully reinvented themselves - and they also put on a genuinely great live show."

He added, "Even before Robbie returned they were arguably the biggest band in Britain. On those factors alone they'd be a Q cover band. The return of Robbie has only magnified that."

In the interview Robbie Williams describes the moment of speaking with Gary Barlow for the first time properly since the Take That split:

"[It was] One of the most amazing nights of my life, I went from having a real problem with this person to literally rolling on the floor laughing with him 10 minutes later. We were genuinely sorry that we'd upset each other."

In the candid discussion, when asked if he was envious of Robbie following the demise of Take That, Gary was frank:

"Fucking right I was. The thing I've learned from having Rob back in my life is that it wasn't being envious of him, it was more that I love being in the industry. I love days like today, doing a photo shoot, being driven here in a nice car. It's a nice life. And it's fucking temporary, unless you're incredibly lucky. He was getting all the stuff I wanted. I hated it when he had a pop at me, but it didn't keep me awake at night. I was just longing to get back into the industry. It was snatched away from me overnight."

The band also describe how new album Progress marks a new, more collaborative phase for Take That, with each member of the band contributing to the songwriting and musical direction.

Gary Barlow: "We literally wrote it in the same way as the hip hop guys do."

Mark Owen: "And which hip hop guys are those. Jay Zed?"

Gary Barlow: "Dr Dre, and erm Will.i.Am"

Robbie Williams: "Who else"

Gary Barlow: "Lionel Richie"

News Q Magazine Q293: Take That - Back For Good

TAKE THAT’s new album is only weeks away, but where there’s excitement there are inevitably a few nerves – even from inside the camp.
MARK OWEN is worried fans will think a track on Progress was written about his well-documented personal problems.
In March he bravely confessed to The Sun that he had been unfaithful to his missus EMMA, and revealed his long battle with booze.
What Do You Want From Me, featuring Mark on lead vocals, sounds a lot like it was penned as he confronted his demons following the revelations.
But it was jointly written by the band before that time. And Mark admits he had second thoughts about including it on the album.
He said: “Even now part of me is going, ‘Maybe it doesn’t have to be on there’.
“It’s a song that’s always going to be related to a time in my life that was very difficult.”
It’s obvious why people can make the connection with lines like:
“It’s been a difficult year.
“I like to think of us moving on.
“I still think I’m in love with you, still want to make love to you.”
Mark admits Emma was in two minds about the track’s inclusion but he feels the song justifies its place due to the real meaning behind its lyrics.
Speaking to Q magazine, out next Tuesday, he said: “The song was written before everything came about. It was written as an optimistic song and then, when everything happened, it took on a different connotation.
“I have to keep reminding myself that it was written looking ahead at a future together.
“There’s mixed feelings in my stomach about it. Do I need to put myself through that? But then it’s good to confront things and be open.”
The album is out on November 22 and there’s a buzz surrounding it. Here’s the first look at the cover – and it’s a corker. A take on those ape-to-human progression posters, it’s the best I’ve seen in ages.
ROBBIE rubbing shoulders with Mark, GARY, HOWARD and JASON still seems slightly surreal following all those years of reunion speculation.
I remember hearing about the games they played in their tour bus when they first started out, but these days it’s manly macho stuff – like arm wrestles.
Now we know the real reason Robbie’s been building up his biceps.

Críticas de "The Flood"

Ever since Robbie Williams rejoined Take That, expectations have been high. But after getting our hands on the five-piece band's comeback single, The Flood, we're relieved to report it's a real corker. Anthemic, upbeat and irritatingly catchy, we'll stake our last glass of champagne on the Stuart Price-produced track sailing straight to No1 on its November 14 release.

Co-written by Take That, it refers back to their acrimo-nious split but insists they now realise they work better together than apart. Sniff - someone pass the Kleenex.

Our insider reveals: "The boys were unanimous The Flood should be their first single. It's incredibly catchy and a sure-fire hit. At the moment, the plan is to debut it live on The X Factor's Sunday night show because Simon Cowell is a big fan. The Flood is odds-on to be their biggest single ever."

Is it their best yet or is that just exuberance and promotion from Robbie for his first single with Take That since he left the band in 1995 or is there some truth to his bold statement? Well actually from the teaser I can categorically say the song is fantastic.

Is it as good as the singles from the previous two Take That Albums? Probably. But I would say that Robbie is most definitely right that it is better than any of the songs written prior to his 1995 departure from the band.

Take That are a more anthemic band than they were before they reformed and that anthemic style is more than evident in the new song which is as catchy as Greatest day or Patience.

This is Take That's first single to feature Robbie Williams who 're-joined' the band earlier this year. The song has that 'epic' feeling attached to it (very Stuart Price) however I'm not that fond of it. The chorus is very good but the verses so-so. Undoubtedly, "The Flood" being a good song or not it will go straight to number one on the UK charts, all due to the hype of Robbie's return.

TAKE THAT - THE FLOOD - LYRIC

THE FLOOD

'Standing on the edge of forever

at the start of whatever

shouting love at the World.

Laughing we were like cavemen

but we met the moon and the stars

then we forgave them......'

‎'We will meet you where the lights are

the defenders of the faith we are

where the thunder turns around

they'll run so hard we'll tear the ground away...

‎'You know no-one dies in these love drowned eyes

through our love drowned eyes

we'll watch you sleep tonight....'

‎'Although no-one understood

we were holding back the flood

learning how to dance the rain.

We were holding back the flood

they said we'd never dance again....'

‎'Breathin' but none of us leavin'

wash your mouth son or you'll find yourself floatin' home

Here we come now on a dark star

seeing demons not what we are

tiny minds and eager hands will try to strike

but now we'll last the day....'

‎'There's progress now where there once was not

where there once was not

then everything came along....'

Although no-one understood

we were holding back the flood

learning how to dance the rain.

There was more of them than us

now they'll never dance again....'

Although no-one understood

there was more of them than us

learning how to dance the rain.

We were holding back the flood

they said we'd never dance again...'

‎'We will meet you where the lights are

the defenders of the faith we are

when the thunder turns around

they'll run so hard we'll tear the ground away...'

‎'Although no-one understood

there was more of them than us

learning how to dance the rain.

There was more of them than us

now they'll never dance again

now we'll never dance again.'
